Nominated: Best Film, Best Director – Frank Capra, Best Actor – Clark Gable, Best Actress – Claudette Colbert

Won: Best Film, Best Director – Frank Capra, Best Actor – Clark Gable, Best Actress – Claudette Colbert

Plot in 25 Words: A zany, road trip love story. A newspaper reporter and heiress are forced together on a cross-country expedition. Hilarious multi-Oscar winner –  deserved more.

In My Opinion: I cheated a little and watched this film out of sequence – but I had no choice! One of the three films to collect the four ‘big’ Oscar wins showing at a local theatre? Had to be done.

So I grabbed my boyfriend and off we went. And I am so bloody glad we did. It was just wonderful. The Stephen Joseph Theatre put on a show, complete with 1934 trailers and breaking news, and then the film was awesome.

Gable and Colbert had such good chemistry and comedic timing, I belly laughed throughout and genuinely enjoyed it.

A well deserved winner of so many Oscars.

Star Performer: Gable easily. He was the driving force behind much of the comedy and such a charismatic leading man.

Overall: Loved it, loved it, loved it! A very funny battle of the sexes. Would happily watch again.
