Directed: Lowell Shermann

Nominated: Best Film
Plot in 25 Words: My first of double entendre riddled performance of Mae West. An undercover Carey Grant tries to bring some order to the proceedings. It doesn’t go well.
In My Opinion: I spent so much of this film just waiting for the immortal line “come up and see me” only to find out I had the line wrong the whole time. “Why don’t you come up sometime and see me” doesn’t quite have the same ring to it.
Despite the quote disappointment, I did enjoy Mae West. She was very funny and totally recognisable as a different type of woman. She definitely made the part her own. Watching her was a delight.
I was distinctly underwhelmed by Carey Grant. He was not the suave leading man I was expecting.
Star Performer: Quite obviously – the one and only Mae West.
Overall: I liked the performances just fine, but the story was faintly ridiculous and forgettable.
