Plot in 25 Words: An awesome trip through time and the memories of the Marryot family. Marriages, deaths and tragedies are all visited. A great Hollywood great with true class.
In My Opinion: Oh yes. Oh very yes!
I loved this film. The style was wonderful. Dipping in and out of moments in a families history. Never over doing the story telling but never drowning the audience in exposition either.
Moments such as losing a loved on on the titanic, were barely mentioned and all the drama took place off screen. It’s a real credit to the actors, that their subtle performances gave so much more then overblown hysterics.
The film equally shows both classes and the paths and crossroads life can take. Also, money and a higher class is no guarantee of a long or happy life.
Star Performer: Diana Wynyard – her subtle aging and growing weariness were wonderful. She truly was my choice for the Oscar over Katherine Hepburn.
Overall: I loved it. A brilliant montage film with big and small events.
